Eleven things they don’t teach in school.

A High School graduation speech about eleven things the graduates did not and will not learn in school. The speaker told about how the feel-good, politically correct teachings has created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1 : Life is not fair -get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world doesn’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: They called it opportunity.
Rule 6 : If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were: So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room..
Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT . In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. * This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. * Do that on your own time.
Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.. If you can read this … Thank a Teacher. If you can read this in English … Thank a Soldier ! And for life and everything else you have … Thank God !!

The one new iPod Touch feature…

The current rumour is that there is one new feature in the next iPod Touch. No, not more memory or improved networking or cameras. It is…

White! Yes, it will soon be available in white. I guess I can put my old black one on Craigslist.

Success is a choice

Success Is Based On The Choices You Make

Your success isn’t a matter of luck, it’s simply a matter of the choices you make.

Success isn’t something you can wait for, it’s something you’ll achieve with effort over time. But, things won’t turn up in this world until you turn them up.

You canĀ choose to be lazy or ambitious. Stop and think about your choice again.

You always do your own choosing.

The great opportunity in your life is where you are right now. Every situation, properly perceived, is an opportunity for you.

First, say to yourself what you would be, and then do what you have to do to make things happen.

Being successful is a choice you make.

Hidden #waterfalls on #Maui

Photo

While browsing the photos from friends on Facebook I came across photos from a friend who hiked a trail  named 13 crossings.

In 28 years of living on Maui I never knew this place existed.. I
googled ” 13 Crossings Maui” and could not find much written about this
hike but did find directions getting to the trail head:

The Makamakaole Stream runs down the north slope of West Maui,
one of the least developed regions of the island. This hike
is nicknamed “13 Crossings,” because that is how many times you must cross the stream before the trail ends at a waterfall.

The trail head is located 8/10 mile west of mile marker 7 on highway 340.
I could not see mile marker 7 on the road but we did see mile marker
5 and went 2.8 miles past that .

We did this hike on Sunday and it was truly amazing.. about 6 crossings in
you walk through a wonderful bamboo forest.

The hike took us about an hour to get to the end of the trail
and at the 12th crossing the stream forks into a left and right stream
we took the right fork and it ended at this 300 foot 2 tier waterfall.
the water is very shallow so it was not the best place to swim but
the water fall is nice.
